Terrorism Awareness

Stop Terrorism

In keeping with our values and mission, we would like to provide the following important links regarding Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness. Please contact the Ashland Police Department at (804) 798-1227 with any further questions.

Homeland Security & Terrorism Awareness - Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) Initiative (NSI)

The Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative is a partnership among federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial law enforcement that establishes a national capacity for gathering, documenting, processing, analyzing, and sharing suspicious activity information—also referred to as the SAR process—in a manner that rigorously protects the privacy and civil liberties of Americans.

To report suspicious activity, contact the police immediately. Describe specifically what you observed, including:

  • Who or what you saw;
  • When you saw it;
  • Where it occurred; and
  • Why it's suspicious.
If there is an emergency, call 9–1–1.

The Ashland Police Department also wants to remind our community that natural and man-made disasters can strike at any time and anyplace. We want our community to prepare themselves and their family so that they will be ready should a disaster strike. Below are three steps that everyone should take to prepare for an emergency.

We want you to learn more about these steps so please take the time to visit www.Ready.gov to learn more about being prepared.
