Darry EdwardsWhat would you like voters to know about you?

I am a 44-year-old lifelong Ashland resident, the elder of three siblings. I'm a product of the Hanover County Public Schools system and a Patrick Henry High School graduate. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and I'm also a Marine Veteran who served proudly in the U.S. Armed Services. I'm a small business owner and former middle school and high school track coach. I'm also a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church of Doswell, Virginia, where I enjoy singing in the church's male chorus.

I care about people and their well-being. This is one of the reasons I would be a great Town Council member. I want to help keep the small-town personality without compromising natural growth. I enjoy watching television programs such as 60 Minutes, Jeopardy, and The State of the Union. My educational background includes an MBA, which has equipped me with the necessary skills and knowledge to promote growth and sustainable success within the Ashland community. My heart is truly with this town. After exploring different parts of the world, I knew my ultimate purpose would be found here, a place that means so much to me.

Why do you want to serve in public office?

I want to serve in public office for many reasons. Firstly, public service allows individuals to directly impact their community and address the issues that matter most to them. By working in public service, I can contribute to creating a better environment where everyone feels secure and enjoys a good quality of life. Secondly, involvement in public service aligns with my personal values and desire to give back to society. I strive to make positive changes and improve the lives of others. Thirdly, working in public service provides personal fulfillment by connecting my career with my passion for helping others and community development. Witnessing the impact of my work on people's lives and the improvements made within my community brings immense satisfaction, knowing that I played a part in making it happen. Ashland is near and dear to my heart because it's the community I was born and raised in.
