November and December are often busy months as friends and families scramble to celebrate the holidays and make the most of the time they have together. Whether you're a group of one or one hundred, Ashland has a long lineup of fun, affordable activities for every age, interest and budget. Here are a few you won't want to miss:
November 15 - The Ashland Turkey Trot at the Patrick Henry YMCA will have crafts, games and fitness challenges for parents and kids of all ages along a 1/2-mile route. Walk, jog, run or dance along some of the coolest turkeys you've ever met and hang around for the crowning of the "Turkey of the Year". This event is free to the public.
November 21 - For the first time since the late-1990s, the Ashland Theater invites the public to enjoy a great movie in a historic setting. This soft opening of the theater will provides an opportunity for moviegoers to walk down memory lane with the feature, "When Harry Met Sally". Tickets are $5 at the door. The show begins at 7:30 PM.
November 23 - It just wouldn't be the holidays without the Olde Time Holiday Parade. This free event will show off more than 100 parade units as it meanders through town. Catch Santa for a free picture at the Ashland Theater from 12 - 2:30 PM. The parade starts at 2:30 PM.
December 4-6 - Santa will be back in town for free pictures, hot chocolate, and, of course, cookies, during the first few days of December. Kids of all ages are welcome.
December 14 - The sleigh gets the glory, but everyone knows Santa's favorite mode of transportation is the Santa Train! Come ride the rails with Old Saint Nick from Ashland to Williamsburg. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Santa Train website.
