The League of Women Voters and Randolph-Macon College are hosting a Council Candidate Forum for the upcoming May 1st Town election. During this election, citizens of the Town of Ashland have the opportunity to vote to fill two seats on the Ashland Town Council.
During the Candidate Forum, citizens will have an opportunity to hear from the three candidates to garner a better understanding of each candidate's thoughts on a variety of Town related issues. There are three candidates running for two seats on the Ashland Town Council: Terry "Les" Cook, John Hodges, and Daniel McGraw (listed alphabetically). Mayor James Foley has chosen not to run for reelection. His term ends on June 30, 2018.
The Council Candidate Forum is open to the public, and it will be broadcast on the Town public access channel 17, live on the Town website, and available for review as an archived video on the Town website.

Information About the Two Open Seats:
- Mayor James Foley's term is coming to an end on June 30, 2018. He has chosen not to seek reelection. James Foley is currently serving his second term on Town Council. He was first elected to Town Council in 2010 and served until the end of the term in 2014. In 2016 he was elected in a special election to fulfill the remaining two years of Faye Prichard's term. Ms. Prichard vacated her seat on Town Council to serve on the Hanover Board of Supervisors.
- John Hodges's term is coming to an end on June 30, 2018. Mr. Hodges was appointed by the Town Council to fill the unexpired term of James Murray. Mr. Murray vacated his seat, and moved to North Carolina to further his education. Mr. Hodges is seeking reelection.
