Join Ashland Town Council members for a series of presentations and discussions on affordable housing. Each meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers of Ashland Town Hall at 101 Thompson Street, Ashland, VA 23005. The presentations will be part of the regularly scheduled Town Council meetings for each date.
On Tuesday, October 16, 2018 the Town hold will hold the first of three discussions on affordable housing. At this session, titled "Let's Agree on the Data", Town Manager Joshua Farrar will provide an overview of various statistics associated with affordable housing for the Town of Ashland, Hanover County, and the Richmond Region.
On Tuesday, November 20, 2018 the second presentation, titled "The Boundaries Within Which We Operate", will center around legal and technical requirements, Town and County comprehensive plan elements addressing affordable housing, Regional efforts to address the topic, and examples of what has been done elsewhere...both successfully and unsuccessfully.
On Tuesday, December 18, 2018 the third meeting will attempt to summarize what we understand from the data, what various stakeholders' responsibilities and possibilities may be, and hopefully determine what the Town's approach to this issue could be in the future.
There will be public input opportunities at each of these three meetings, and they will all be televised on Comcast Cable Channel 17, and live streamed on the Town of Ashland website. Each meeting and presentation will also be available to view after the fact at the Town's public meeting archive for those who cannot attend or watch live.
