As you may have noticed, we have a New Traffic Pattern in Ashland at the Hanover Avenue/Thompson Street/England Street intersection. The Town is working to establish a designated Loading Zone for deliveries to nearby businesses, which may also be used as a drop off area for restaurant/business patrons. The east bound traffic lane on Hanover Avenue no longer hugs the curb behind The Iron Horse but is routed to a stop bar at Thompson Street. The changes include new pavement marking and striping, a new location for the stop sign, and three bollards along the new striping. A temporary “New Traffic Pattern” sign has been placed in the new Loading Zone area to remind drivers that this is no longer a driving lane. It will remain there until yellow stripes and “Loading Zone” lettering are added in the Loading Zone, which will be done as soon as we can schedule the contractor.
Since the lane-change, we have observed that many of you have caught on to this new traffic flow – thank you for paying attention and keeping your eyes on the road! 😊
