At the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, September 5th, Chief Troy Aronhalt presented awards to members of the Ashland Police Department as part of the department's Semi-Annual Awards program. Award recipients were:
For Lifesaving:
Officers Tyler Anthony and Aaron Johnson
For Dedication to Duty:
Officer Cameron Crouse, Investigator Jaime Hanlon, Lieutenant Ethan Hicks, Officer Aaron Johnson, and Investigator Anthony Nagy
Crime Prevention:
Officer Harvey "Chip" Watts
For Excellent Police Duty:
Officer Lance Bell, Sergeant Michael Helbig (x2), Officer Ryan Legros, and Officer Grant Miller

In addition, at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, September 19th, Dana Schrad, Executive Director of the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police (VACP), presented Captain Marie Kemp with a Law Enforcement Executive Certification. This certification was created to honor police executives who have acquired and maintained established benchmarks of accomplishment to attain a recommended standard for police leadership in Virginia.
