Rachel Machacek is a Licensed Social Worker with a specialty in
working with older adults and people of all ages facing terminal illness, grief and loss. Currently, Rachel works as a palliative medicine social worker at Bon Secours. Prior to that she was a hospice bereavement counselor and a community social worker at an independent-living facility for seniors. She received her Masters of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and Bachelor of Arts in English from University of Mary Washington. Rachel also is a registered yoga and meditation teacher (RYT-200). Mindfulness-based practices are foundational to Rachel’s work, and she has taught meditation to a variety of populations as a way of reducing the stress and anxiety of daily life, finding connection with others, and as a path toward personal transformation. She practices meditation daily.
